July 2018 Movie Guide

These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to
theaters in July, but feel free to check out all of July's releases by visiting the Internet

week of July 6

Synopsis: As Scott Lang balances being both a Super Hero and a father, Hope
van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym present an urgent new mission that finds the Ant-
Man fighting alongside The Wasp to uncover secrets from their past.
Director: Peyton Reed
Why? If you saw the first one (or any Paul Rudd movie), then you already
know why.

Synopsis: The film will be a prequel that will focus on the events that lead up to
the very first Purge event.
Director: Gerard McMurray
Why? Let's hope this prequel lives up to what this franchise has
accomplished so far.

week of July 13

Synopsis: FBI Hostage Rescue Team leader and U.S. war veteran Will Sawyer
now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in Hong Kong he finds the
tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he's been framed for it.
A wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible, clear his name and
somehow rescue his family who are trapped inside the building...above the fire
line.
Why? If there isn't a horror movie to celebrate this Friday the 13th, then I
suppose The Rock will have to do… which isn't such a bad thing. And Neve
Campbell was famously in Scream.

week of July 20

Synopsis: Robert McCall serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and
oppressed, but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?
Director: Antoine Fuqua
Why? Watch Denzel kick some ass? Sure, why not!

week of July 27

Synopsis: Ethan Hunt and his IMF team, along with some familiar allies, race
against time after a mission gone wrong.
Why? This franchise just keeps bringing the action!

Synopsis: A villain's maniacal plan for world domination sidetracks five teenage
superheroes who dream of Hollywood stardom.

Why? You know it's going to be stupid, but at least it'll be fun.
