These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in January, but feel free to check out all of January's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.
week of January 5
Synopsis: Parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainier faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet - in her own family home.
Why? Can't get enough of this franchise, and I love starting the year off with a good scare!
week of January 12
Synopsis: A businessman is caught up in a criminal conspiracy during his daily commute home.
Why? Although I'm starting to feel like if you've seen one Liam Neeson movie you've seen them all, this does appear to be the best release for the week.
week of January 19
Synopsis: A gritty crime saga which follows the lives of an elite unit of the LA County Sheriff's Dept. and the state's most successful bank robbery crew as the outlaws plan a seemingly impossible heist on the Federal Reserve Bank.
Why? Not overly excited about anything this week either, but this bad cop heist movie with Gerard Butler might not be bad.
week of January 26
Synopsis: Young hero Thomas embarks on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as the "Flare".
Why? Although I have yet to jump into the Maze Runner franchise, I'm still interested. Maybe I'll take some time to catch up and see this one in theaters.
