September 2017 Movie Guide

These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in September, but feel free to check out all of September's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.

week of September 1

Synopsis: A CIA interrogator is lured into a ruse that puts London at risk of a biological attack.
Director: Michael Apted
Why? I don't recognize any of the movies coming out this week; however, this seemed like the best bet. In addition to the very recognizable names listed above, the movie also stars John Malkovich.

week of September 8

Synopsis: A group of bullied kids band together when a monster, taking the appearance of a clown, begins hunting children.
Director: Andy Muschietti
Why? I recently acquired a Blu-ray of the original, and I'm very much looking forward to rewatching it and checking out this remake.

week of September 15

Synopsis: A couple's relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.
Director: Darren Aronofsky
Why? Love the director and the cast.

Synopsis: The life of celebrated but reclusive author, J.D. Salinger, who gained worldwide fame with the publication of his novel, The Catcher in the Rye.
Director: Danny Strong
Why? While I've read the book only once, I still have fond memories of discovering The Catcher In The Rye. I think they chose a fitting cast for this one.

week of September 22

Synopsis: When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, the Kingsman's journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US. These two elite secret organizations must band together to defeat a common enemy.
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Why? I thought the first one was great, and it looks like this one could be even better.

week of September 29

Synopsis: Five medical students, obsessed by what lies beyond the confines of life, embark on a daring experiment: by stopping their hearts for short periods, each triggers a near-death experience - giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife.

Why? Here's your second remake of the month to look forward to. I'll have to rewatch the original and compare with this one as well.
