The famous Dory is a member of the surgeonfish family. These fish have... [click to learn more]

These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in June, but feel free to check out all of June's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.

week of June 3

Director: Dave Green
Why? Oh let me count the ways. I grew with TMNT, and I enjoyed the first movie. I'm looking forward to the additions of Bebop and Rocksteady, along with Krang. Plus, Megan Fox ain't bad to look at even though she isn't a red-headed April like we grew up with. We also get Stephen Amell (aka Green Arrow) as Casey Jones!

Why? Samberg has already proven himself with the Lonely Island and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

week of June 10

The Warrens will need to follow their own guidance when they face an evil beyond their darkest nightmares.
Director: James Wan
Why? This is going to be amazingly scary.

On the set of Now You See Me: The Second Act with Daniel Radcliffe, Michael Caine, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan, Mark Ruffalo and Jesse Eisenberg.
Director: Jon M. Chu
Why? Apparently it is a weekend for sequels, and this one should be just as magical as part 1!

Director: Duncan Jones
Why? Although I never played the game, the movie looks fun.

week of June 17

Why? Finding Nemo.

Why? Looks like it'll be pretty funny.

Daniel Radcliffe as Manny in ‘Swiss Army Man’
Why? Surreal.

Director: Jon Watts
Why? Is this really finally coming out? I sure hope so. Eli Roth gives it his stamp of approval, and that's good enough for me.

week of June 24

Jeff Goldblum and Liam Hemsworth
Director: Roland Emmerich
Why? Because it makes for a good excuse to watch the first one.

McConaughey plays a soldier for the Confederacy during the Civil War who becomes disillusioned with the South’s cause, flees the battlefield and defiantly declares a safe haven in Jones County, Mississippi.
Director: Gary Ross

Why? Another movie about fighting for independence this weekend, but this one is set during the Civil War.
