April 2016 Movie Guide

Idris Elba as Shere Khan in The Jungle Book

These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in April, but feel free to check out all of April's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.

week of April 1

Director: Harold Cronk
Why? APRIL FOOLS! Tell a friend you're taking them to see Deadpool, but then walk them into this instead.

week of April 8

Director: Ilya Naishuller
Why? This first person POV action movie looks like it could be great… as long as you don't get motion sickness.

Director: Ben Falcone
Why? This is the movie they should have released on April 1st. I finally watched Spy the other night, and really enjoyed it.

Director: Mike Flanagan
Why? I feel like I've posted about this one before. Hopefully it's actually getting released this time. Looks like it has the potential to be a decent horror movie.

week of April 15

Director: Jon Favreau
Why? Because it's The Jungle Book. Tell me "Bear Necessities" isn't already stuck in your head.

Jill (@gal_gadot) must bring out the hero within a criminal.
Director: Ariel Vromen
Why? I don't know much about this movie, but the cast has me interested.

Patrick Stewart is the bad guy in “Green Room”
Director: Jeremy Saulnier
Why? Imagine you're in one of those wrong place/wrong time scenarios, but the bad guy is Patrick Stewart.

week of April 22

No recommendations.

week of April 29

Director: Peter Atencio
Why? If you're a fan of Key and Peele, then you're in the right place.

Why? If this isn't good, at least it's coming out before Angry Birds, which looks really funny.
