July 2015 Movie Guide

Three horror movies, three call-backs to the 80s, two Game of Thrones actors, and two Avengers actors! Is this July or Christmas??
These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in July, but feel free to check out all of July's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.

week of July 3

Director: Alan Taylor
Why? When the machines really do rise up, we need to be ready.

week of July 10

Why? If you've seen Despicable Me, then you already know.

Why? I don't expect this to be the next Paranormal Activity, but it looks like it'll have some genuine scares.

Director: Tarsem Singh
Why? It has an intriguing premise. Would you continue your life at the expense of someone else's?

week of July 17

Director: Peyton Reed
Why? Because apparently heroes don't get any bigger.

Director: Judd Apatow
Why? Good director and cast should ensure that this is pretty funny.

Director: Bill Condon
Why? It's Sherlock Holmes!

Why? It's based on the real psychological experiment that was conducted in 1971.

week of July 24

Director: Chris Columbus
Why? If you grew up in the 80s, then this is a dream come true.

Director: Antoine Fuqua
Why? If the cast and subject matter doesn't immediately interest you, then I recommend checking out the director's resume.

Director: Mark Neveldine
Why? Isn't religious horror some of the scariest there is?

week of July 31

Why? I haven't been disappointed by a Mission: Impossible movie yet.

Why? It's the follow-up to National Lampoon's Vacation!
