These are my picks (complete with the reason for my choice) for the movies coming to theaters in December, but feel free to check out all of December's releases by visiting the Internet Movie Database's Coming Soon page.

- SLEEPING BEAUTY
- Director: Julia Leigh

Why? This was a limited release back in October, so I'm hoping it'll get wider release this time. I like the concept, and it stars the girl from Sucker Punch.

- YOUNG ADULT [limited release]
- Director: Jason Reitman

Friday, December 16th
- SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS

Wednesday, December 21st
- THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
- Director: David Fincher
- Why? If you need a reason other than the fact that David Fincher is directing, then we can't be friends. As a bonus, Trent Reznor from NIN is back doing the music for another Fincher film. He won an Oscar last time.
Stars: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Robin Wright
Friday, December 23rd
- MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL [releases on 12/16 in IMAX only]
- Director: Brad Bird
- Why? It's Mission Impossible! Bad Robot (JJ Abrams' company) is backing the movie again even though JJ isn't directing. Instead, Brad Bird is directing, and he gave us The Incredibles. If you need an additional reason, 6 minutes (yes, 6 minutes!) of The Dark Knight Rises will be shown prior to M:I4. I'm planning to be in the theater on December 16th for this reason.
